Artist’s Statement:
I am drawn to collage for its associative nature. Much like poetry, it depends on leaps between the content, and is ultimately unified by a visual thread. Rainy Day is the product of its name. On a rainy day in Texas, I needed a more tactile piece of art and sat down to construct this piece. It depicts vibrant fragments of one’s imagination in conversation with the body’s current circumstance. When one cannot physically interact with the world, the imagination will perform this honest work. Many of my collages are also visual interpretations of my poems. My current project Poppycock is an exercise in abundance and color through the mediums of language and visual art.
